For centuries, nobody outside the small mountain town of Monteverde, Costa Rica knew the Golden Toad existed. But then - at the height of its notoriety - it disappeared without a trace. As part of our continuing story on this first terrestrial extinction to be linked to climate change, we are excited to share maps, field notes, and photos from the scientists who knew the species best before it disappeared.
